On behalf of the Forum of Local Government Secretaries, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation and commendation for your recent motion urging the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to include the reconstruction and dualisation of the Ore-Ondo-Akure Federal Road in the 2024 budget and prioritize its funding. Your initiative in bringing this matter to the attention of the House of Representatives is highly commendable, and we are grateful for your efforts in addressing this crucial infrastructural challenge.
As you rightly pointed out, the Ore-Ondo-Akure Federal Road, spanning approximately 88.14 kilometers, has long been earmarked for dualisation by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. However, despite these plans, the implementation has been delayed, leading to significant hardships for the communities and local governments in the region. Your motion highlights the urgent need for action and underscores the importance of prioritizing the reconstruction and dualisation of this vital transportation route.
The Ore-Ondo-Akure Federal Road serves as a critical link connecting various cities, towns, and communities in Akure South, Ondo East, Ondo West, and Odigbo Local Government Areas of Ondo State. Its rehabilitation and expansion will undoubtedly enhance transportation efficiency, improve road safety, promote economic growth, and provide better access to essential services for the residents and businesses in the affected areas.
We firmly believe that your advocacy and the subsequent support from your esteemed colleagues in the House of Representatives will contribute significantly to expediting the reconstruction and dualisation of the Ore-Ondo-Akure Federal Road.
