The Akure South chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP today 8th August 2023 ratified the nominations of Oluwatuyi Adekanbi of Oshodi/Isolo ward10 and Oluwayomi Adu Samuel of Iro ward9 as Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship Candidates of the party in forthcoming local government elections scheduled to hold next year February.
The adoption which had earlier been done in May this year was formally ratified today during the official party’s Congress to nominate the Chairmanship Candidate and his Vice respectively. the excercise was carried out under the supervision of Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC representative Mr Bunmi Ige and Mr Bayo Saheed as respectively.
The exercise was anchored by the PDP Akure South Party Chairman, Mr Oladimeji Busuyi and delegates across the eleven(11) wards numbering over seventy three(73) people unanimously agreed on the ratification of both Tuyi Adekanbi and Yomi Adu as Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates respectively with a voice votes.
ODIEC representative Mr Bunmi Ige commended PDP Akure South Chapter for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner and organising rancour and hitch free primary which was done in a consensus arrangements.
The electoral umpire later assured that the commission would do everything possible to conduct free, fair and credible elections that would be acceptable by all stakeholders.
In the same vein, Comrade Tuyi Adekanbi while accepting his nomination as the chairmanship candidate of the party during the next year council poll thanked the leadership and entire members of the party for their invaluable and unquantified supports, saying he would not in anyway disappoint the trust people had in him if eventually elected as Chairman Akure South Local Government.
He however charged the electoral umpire, ODIEC to discharge their duties without favouring any parties or been influenced from any quarters noting that he was convinced beyond all doubts that their nomination and eventual victory at the poll would put an end to APC reign of terror in Akure and beyond.
Finally, members present were admonished to go back to their various political ward and do the needful in order to ensure all our candidates enjoys grassroot support before and during the forthcoming local government elections slated for early next year.
