The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Akure South Local Government has felicitated Muslim faithfuls in Akure and its environs on the joyous occasion of this year Eid-El-kabir celebration.
The party in a statement made available through the party secretary maintained that for the singular fact that we are alive to witness and celebrate this year’s Eid-El-kabir amid tension, insecurity, economic hardship, and all forms of social vices calls for appreciation to Allah for His immeasurable protection, provisions and blessings.
The Party reiterated that the festival is regarded as one of the most important feasts in Islamic calendar, usually celebrated annually with prayers, charity, love and sharing of gifts with friends and the needy in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, before Allah intervened and gave him a ram to sacrifice in the place of his son.
The celebration which offers Muslim faithfuls the opportunity to pray for peace, unity and harmony in the society. It should be noted that this period of festivity should not be devoted for merry making alone but instead, for genuine supplications to Allah for a positive turnaround and divine intervention in the lives of every individual and society at large.
However, the party commended the tolerance, perseverance, committment and contributions of our Muslims brethren to societal growth and stability through effective prayers and preaching of love, giving back to the needy and peaceful coexistence with their Christian counterparts, among others, as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad(SAW).
While Congratulating Allah worshippers for this year’s Eid-El-kabir celebration, the party urged the celebrants to remain hopeful for a better and more prosperous future and be thankful for the past blessings, benefits and at the same time be guided by the preaching of Prophet Muhammad(SAW) and Holy Quran which focuses on love, unity, peace, kindness, sacrifice and blessings.
Finally, our party enjoined all stakeholders to remain together during this period assuring that this very time will pass away, even as we wish our brethren of Islamic faith Allah’s guidance and blessings during this period and beyond, whilst they also imbibe the lessons of the festival. Believing that if the lessons of the feast are followed and practiced by all and sundry, our society will be better, prosperous and happy.
We wish all Muslim faithful a Happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
