The Akure South Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP today 20th October 2023 ratified the nominations of all the deserving party faithfuls as chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates for the newly created LCDAs and LGA in the forthcoming Local Government elections slated for 17th February, 2024.
The adoption which had earlier been done few days ago were formally ratified today during the official party’s congress to nominate chairmanship candidate as well as vice that would compete with their counterparts in other parties. The exercise was carried out under the supervision of Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC’s representatives, Mr Bunmi Ige and Mr Bayo Saheed.
The process was anchored by the PDP Akure South Party Chairman, Mr Oladimeji Busuyi having in attendance delegates from all the eleven(11) wards who unanimously agreed on the ratification of all the candidates presented by the party from their respective LCDAs as chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates with a voice votes:
AKURE WEST LCDA
Mr.FASUA EZEKIEL ROTIMI as Chairmanship candidate and OLORI ADENIKE FALAYE Vice- chairmanship candidate.
AKURE SOUTH LGA
Mr OLUWATUYI ADEKANBIi as chairmanship candidate and MR AYODELE SUNDAY, vice- chairmanship candidate.
AKURE EAST LCDA.
MR KUNLE ADELOYE as chairmanship candidate and Aare ABIODUN OLUWAROTIMI Vice- chairmanship candidate.
OYEMEKUN LCDA
MR OLUWAYOMI ADU SAMUEL, Chairmanship candidate and Hon. WALE OLADELE, Vice- Chairmanship candidate.
The ODIEC Electoral Officer (EO) for Akure South Local Government, Mr Bunmi Ige who was physically present commended PDP Akure South Chapter for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner and organising rancour and hitch free primary which was done in a consensus arrangements.
He stated that PDP is only party who has met necessary requirements of the commission and complied with its guidelines on the conduct of Primaries.
The electoral umpire later assured that the commission would do everything possible to conduct free, fair and credible elections that would be acceptable by all stakeholders and ensure every process leading to the elections are seamless, transparent and peaceful.
Speaking on behalf of other candidates, Mr Kunle Adeloye while accepting their nominations as the chairmanship candidates and vice respectively during the next year council poll, thanked the leadership and entire members of the party for their invaluable and unquantified supports, saying they would not in anyway disappoint the trust and confidence reposed in them if eventually elected.
Mr Adeloye charged the electoral umpire, ODIEC to discharge their duties without favouring any parties or been influenced from any quarters noting that he was convinced beyond all doubts that their nominations and eventual victory at the poll would put an end to APC reign of terror in Akure and beyond.
Finally, members present were admonished to go back to their various political ward and do the needful in order to ensure all our candidates enjoys grassroot support before and during the forthcoming local government elections slated for early next year.
