President Bola Tinubu has announced twenty-five five thousand naira per month as provisional wage for the least workers in the country for the next six months to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on the workers
President Tinubu made made the pronouncement today at the independent day broadcast. He said the amount was arrived with after due consultation with necessary stakeholders.
“Based on our talks with labour, business and other stakeholders, we are introducing a provisional wage increment to enhance the federal minimum wage without causing undue inflation. For the next six months, the average low-grade worker shall receive an additional Twenty-Five Thousand naira per month.
He reiterated that the wage increase is critically considered so it will not cause inflation and that provisional wage is not minimum wage.
