The Oyo State Government has set up committee to review thirty thousand naira minimum wage to meet with the present day reality in view of fuel subsidy removal.
While inuaguarating the committee, Governor Makinde told them they have a mandate to work on the new minimum wage and to fashion out on how to improve the state internally generated revenue ( IGR).
He reiterated that relationship between organised labour and the state government has been so cordial and he appealed for more mutual relationship and understanding.
Governor Makinde said his administration is poised in improving the well being of the good people of Oyo State and he will keep to his campaign promises.
The state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC), Comrade Kayode Martins said the review of minimum wage in the country is long overdue and that since removal of fuel subsidy life has not been easy for workers.
Comrade Martins appealled to the Federal Government to handle the issue of fuel subsidy removal with caution and ensured that workers welfare is prioritises.
Members of the committee includes, Oyo State Head of Service, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, State Account General, Director Service Matters, Chairman of Senior Staff are Government representatives while Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC), Trade Union Congress ( TUC), Nigeria Union of Teachers ( NUT), Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees ( NULGE), Joint Negotiating Council ( NJC) and Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP) represented organised labour.
